“Even though I am part of a group, I get the feeling that Shoshana is speaking to each of us as individuals, making the material relevant to each of us. She creates an atmosphere in which our minds open and soar as we incorporate the new information and share our insights.”
—Judy Gitenstein, book editor
Shoshana teaches both adult and bar/bat mitzvah age students. We're also starting to put up some of Shoshana's writings and speeches.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Tutoring
Shoshana specializes in one-on-one Bar and Bat Mitzvah study and speech writing. She works with young people to study their Bar/Bat Mitzvah Torah portions and craft their speeches. Shoshana creates a study experience that is unique and personal, helping each child to write and deliver a memorable and meaningful speech that reflects his or her voice. Shoshana collaborates with families in the creation of personally meaningful Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings and commitment ceremonies.
“Shosh worked with me and my two daughters in creating a havdalah service for my younger daughter's bat mitzvah. The havdalah service consisted of "shira shkeita" (quiet singing) with my two daughters playing guitar and singing and leading the guests in Hebrew songs. Shosh brought her musical gifts, her spirituality, her incredibly gifted teaching skills, and her sense of humor to bear on the creation of the service. Shosh worked with the girls on every aspect of their performance in the most calming and supportive fashion, encouraging their passion, creativity and individuality. (She also served as a calming influence to a very anxious mother). At the bat mitzvah itself, Shosh handled the sound and basically orchestrated the service with my older daughter, and accompanied my daughters on the drums. The drum playing, and honestly Shosh's presence, lent the tone and sensibility that helped transport the service to a magical dimension. It was out of this world.”
—Eve Birnbaum, Heschel parent, Bnai Jeshurun member“Shosh was my sixth grade Mishnah and Tanach teacher and she is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. When Shosh worked with me on my Dvar Torah for my Bar Mitzvah, she helped me understand how and why the Tanach unfolds like it does, and I understood how it has many levels of meaning. Finally, unlike traditional teachers, Shosh throws a mean spiral, and never twists students’ ears to make them pay attention.”
—Barak Bachrach 9th Grader Heschel High School
